The Wilma Jane Tieperman Scholarship
““Do you know of anyone needing an electric piano? A friend of mine needs to get rid of one.”
Neither of us knew this at the time, but this text would lead to some great things for the youth in the Flint Hills community.
This text came from Rachel, a student’s mom. What she didn’t know is that we had a promising student taking lessons on a scholarship that desperately needed a full sized digital piano. Rachel made arrangements with her friend and the piano was donated to the student in need.
So why am I telling you all of this?
Rachel’s act of kindness, inspired us to create our own local scholarship program. Which is fitting because Rachel's grandmother once supported her own music education by buying Rachel her first saxophone and her first keyboard. (Her first keyboard is actually the one her daughter plays on today.)
Sadly, Rachel’s grandmother passed away after contracting COVID-19 a few months ago. Rachel wanted to carry on her grandmother’s support of music education by making sure children in need have access to music lessons and instruments. This is our OFFICIAL announcement that we have started our own scholarship program for children in the Flint Hills Area. We will be naming our scholarship after her grandmother, Wilma Jane Tieperman.
Enrollment requires information regarding financial need reflecting eligibility for the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program. Other factors are also taken into consideration when determining financial eligibility.
We have partial scholarship and full scholarship options available.
All students on scholarships must start out in Group Lessons or Little Jammers! (depending on their age).
