for Beginners

You’ve been thinking about putting your child into music lessons, but you keep putting it on the back burner.

Committing to weekly lessons and buying an instrument is hard when you don’t even know if music is your child’s “thing”.


They say they want music lessons, but you know how kids can be.

They can’t decide which instrument they want to learn…or they want to learn them ALL!


Will they enjoy music lessons?

We understand your hesitations and we’ve created a special class for families who are still on the fence about music lessons.

Allow me to introduce our Intro to Music Class!

This class is a great way to let your child (ages 7+) experience music, discover which instrument they love, and to check out how we do things at Miss Emily’s Music School.

In just 4 weeks, your child will learn the basics of the most popular instruments:

Week 1 - Drums

Week 2 - Piano

Week 3 - Ukulele

Week 4 - Guitar

  • This class is open to kids ages 7+. If you have a child younger than that, check out our Little Jammers Program (4-6 years old) or KiddyKeys (1.5-3 years old)!

  • Your child will learn to play Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes on the guitar, piano, ukulele, and drums. During the final lesson, they’ll play the song together in their very own ROCK BAND!

    They’ll learn the basics of all of the instruments: the anatomy of each instrument, proper posture, how to play a few basic chords, and rhythm.

  • 6 kids total in each class.

  • Our school is a “no-practice” school. We will never discourage a child from practicing, but we aren’t going to shame them or guilt them for not practicing.

    This specific class is geared more to explore which instrument your child will fall in love with and if for you to see if they truly like music lessons.

  • You do NOT need to have an instrument at-home for this class. We have everything your child will need!

  • We try to find a time and day that works best with YOUR schedule. Typically, we have openings Monday through Thursday between the times of 4pm and 7pm.

  • We have a waiting room where parents can wait if they want to. For safety purposes, parents are not allowed to sit in on the class. Plus, your child probably won’t relax if you’re in the room with them.

  • We understand that you’re busy and sometimes life just happens.

    However, if you need to miss a class, you can join one of our other group classes for instrument we covered that week.

  • Our lessons are held at our school at 2726 Amherst Ave Spc C in Manhattan, KS.

    We’re behind Manhattan Gymnastics and right next door to JS Sign.

    Parking can be a little rough, so park where you can or drop them off. Whatever you’re comfortable with!

  • What do you want to happen?!

    This class is a way for you to try out music lessons without a long-term commitment, so we won’t be pressuring you to jump right into weekly lessons if you aren’t interested in that!

    But if you ARE interested in continuing lessons with us, your child can start weekly group lessons which are $110/month (scholarships are available for those who qualify).

  • We have classes starting February 1st, February 15th, and March 1st! We are always opening new classes though, so feel free to contact us if you need a different start date!
