“Our daughter has been in lessons with Miss Emily for over 3 years now. She absolutely loves piano lessons.

Miss Emily has worked with our 2 military moves, school schedule changes, sports, and travel without any issues. Her flexibility, sincerity, and professionalism has made our experience a blessing.” - Susie S.

When I first started Miss Emily’s Music School,

I had a vision.

I wanted a MEMS location in every military town in the United States.
As the school grew rapidly, I was playing catch-up and this goal quietly got pushes aside.

But after listening to some of our current clients, I realized it’s time to take that goal off the shelf.

Specifically, our clients who are military families…

Here’s what they said:

“I hate that my child can’t continue learning the piano with the teacher she loves.”

“We’ve looked for music schools at our new duty station, but none of them have the same values as Miss Emily’s Music School.”

“Most schools want my child to practice thirty minutes a day. We are too busy for that and my child would hate music lessons if I made them practice.”

“I don’t want them to kill her love of music.”

“I’m so tired of ripping her away from her friends.”

When I heard these concerns, I realized there was a bigger need for what we offer.

So…I’ve created the VIP Backstage Pass.

This program will allow military children to continue learning music with their favorite teacher and their community.

Personalized Goals

We want to make sure that all three of us are on the same page when it comes to goals: the teacher, the parent, and the student. During our Goal-Setting Meeting, we will assess what experience the student has (if any). We will listen to the parents goa’s for the student and how they will measure success. But we will also hear the students' goals and dreams with music. You’ll get a walkthrough of our program and a how-to guide for the technology side of things.

Differentiated Instruction

Recognizing that each student has unique learning styles, interests, and proficiency levels, we tailor our instruction to meet these individual needs. We use a variety of teaching methods, such as visual aids for visual learners and hands-on activities for kinesthetic learners, ensuring that every student finds a path that resonates with them. This approach not only enhances student engagement and motivation but also fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of music, allowing each learner to progress at their own pace while achieving their full potential.

Community

Understanding the emotional toll of leaving friends behind every few years, this innovative virtual music lesson program allows students to maintain and grow their friendships regardless of where their families are stationed. Through a dedicated community platform, students can interact, share their musical experiences, and participate in special events tailored to strengthen their bonds. This constant, supportive network not only enriches their music education but also provides a stable social environment where students can thrive despite the uncertainties of military life.

Creating and Sharing

We place a strong emphasis on not just creating music, but also on sharing it with others. By fostering a collaborative environment, the VIP Backstage Pass Program encourages students to play music together, nurturing a sense of community.

Additionally, the program offers a unique "YouTube Experience," where students' performances are recorded and uploaded to the school's YouTube channel in personalized playlists. This innovative feature allows students to easily share their musical journeys with friends and family, showcasing their progress and achievements. It also serves as a digital portfolio that students and their families can look back on to see how much they have grown as musicians over time, adding a valuable layer of reflection and pride to their educational experience.

This is what it could look like in just 3 months…

✅ Your child will be proud to be finishing their very first piano book and getting their first certificate!

✅ Your child will be confident to share music with friends and family.

✅ Your child will play (aka practice) the piano at-home naturally, without it being a chore and killing their love of music.

✅ Your child will learn listening skills and empathy.

✅ You will be SO proud of the progress your child has made with music without the hassle of fighting them to practice. Your friends will be envious of how flawless your family’s experience has been.

✅ Your child will have a community of friends while they transition to new schools and social circles.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • I know that 2020 kind of ruined the virtual learning experience for a lot of people. We have been teaching virtual lessons since 2014 though, so when 2020 came around, we were pros. And parents were thrilled!

Our method and approach to teaching doesn’t change. The only thing that is changing is he platform it’s delivered on.

And if it makes anyone feel better, I train aggressive dogs and teach their owners via Zoom…so teaching your child to play the piano on Zoom is a walk in the park!

  • You’ll receive a guide on everything you will need and how to set everything up.

    But here’s the basics:
    - A device with Zoom
    - The device must have a camera and microphone
    - An instrument

    And that’s it!

  • The EXACT same way that our group lessons work in-person. Students work independently on their songs. If they need help, they “raise” the help sign and the teacher will check in with them and help them.

If they student is ready for the teacher to hear their song, they will “raise” the ready sign, and the teacher will listen to their song, give feedback, and set them up for the next song.

Students have the option to play the song publicly in front of the other kids, or we can go to a “Breakout Room” where they can play the song privately with just the teacher.

Note: These “signs” that we mention are built into the Zoom software.

  • We will work to find a day/time that works best for everyone’s schedules. There are multiple classes to choose from.
